Biography
Dora Strauss-Weigert (née Weigert) was born in 1890 in Hamburg and died in 1954 in Israel. She wrote her dissertation about the Jewish people of Hamburg in around 1919. She was especially interested in social work with working women. After the death of Fritz Mordechai Kauffmann in 1921, she and Salomon Adler-Rudel headed the Jewish workers' welfare bureau in Berlin (Auguststr.), where she was succeeded by Regina Schächter in 1922. In 1934, she immigrated to Palestine. There, Dora worked at the youth aliyah between 1936 and 1948, and was especially engaged in psychological work with juvenile immigrants.
